Hook pattern
Demonstration
Shows the outcome up front before explaining how.
Open with the result — a transformation, a finished thing, a proof point — so the viewer thinks 'how?' and stays for the answer.
“I went from 0 to 100K followers in 6 months. Here’s how.”
When to use it
Reach for the demonstration hook when you have a result worth showing — a before-and-after, a finished build, a number you actually hit. It works best when the outcome is visual or surprising enough that people need to know how you pulled it off.
How to nail it
- Lead with the most impressive frame, not the setup.
- Make the result specific — “0 to 100K in 6 months” beats “grew fast”.
- Pay off the “how” quickly; don’t make people wait too long for the method.
Common mistake
Showing a result that isn’t actually impressive, or burying it a few seconds in. If the outcome doesn’t make someone think “wait, how?”, the hook has nothing to ride on.
